L2 Summative Feedback from Mentor (FF Observing)

Progress Towards Recognition as a Level Two Formation Facilitator

Apprentice Name:
Heather Skublics Lampman
FF Name:
Diane Olsen

L2

1. Has this apprentice been open to your feedback and willing to focus on areas that require further practice?

Yes! Heather is an eager learner. It is clear to me that she valued the apprentice experience.

2. Do you have concerns about this person that may affect her/his ability to continue in formation as a CGSAC formation facilitator?

Heather is naturally a Level III catechist. She has not had experience leading only a Level 2 atrium for two hours for an atrium year. I find that concerning. While her theological background and abilities are quite good, she could have Level 2 course participants with more Level 2 experience that she has acquired. That is a problem. I think she needs several years experience leading a legitimate Level 2 (2 hour) atrium session to be a credible Level 2 formation leader. I am afraid her personal formation as a Level 2 catechist and Level 2 Formation Facilitator will be compromised if she is moved too quickly into this position.

3. Which skills and/or presentations have you identified  and communicated to the apprentice to focus on in the next level two course she/he co-facilitates?

Be more conversational while presenting Adult Reflections.
Remember to let the Level 2 children/course participants move all materials during a presentation.
Write Points of Christian Message and Direct Aims using only essential language.
Strive to grow in the ability to collaborate with other catechists in the atrium setting and in formation courses.

4. What would you suggest be covered in a FF workshop  or  FF course that would give this apprentice greater knowledge and confidence to facilitate a level two course?

Collaboration
Difficult Conversations
How CGS catechists learn from the child
Finding the balance between relating with the heart and the head

5. If this apprentice is currently in stage one, working with two experienced formation facilitators:
Do you feel this apprentice is  ready to begin stage two of the apprenticeship period?
i.e. is capable of carrying half the workload of the formation team

Perhaps, once all her album pages are updated and formatted to her liking.

6. If this apprentice is currently in stage two, working with only one other experienced formation facilitator: Do you feel they are ready to be recognized as a Level Two Formation Facilitator?

n/a

Any Further Comments:

Thank you for the opportunity to work with Heather within the Canadian CGS community. It is an honor and a privilege. May all your, and our efforts give glory to God.

Thank you for taking the time to observe and provide feedback on this apprentice formation facilitator. Your guidance  ensures we continue to offer the best quality CGS formation possible and help CGS catechists to grow in their roles as a confident formation facilitator, able to pass on the gift of CGS handed down to us by Sofia Cavalletti and Gianna Gobbi.
